Upon registering you are granted a licensed GOLF-ST.KEY, which gives you
certain limited rights to use Golf Solitaire.
You are granted to use Golf Solitaire on a single BBS System. It may be
used on several CPU's in a Networking or Multi-Tasking environment where
the BBS System has more than one node.
You do not become an owner of Golf Solitaire. JNS Software retains all
Rights to all the software, copies of the software and related materials.
Also upon registering, you agree to use reasonable efforts to protect the
registered GOLF-ST.KEY file from unauthorized use, reproduction and
distribution. All rights not specifically granted in this license is
reserved by JNS Software.

The Golf Solitaire door game is distributed under the SHAREWARE concept.
Under this concept you may use the SHAREWARE (unregistered evaluation) version
for a reasonable period of time, which is normally thirty days set by the
evaluation (demo) key.
After which you must either register your copy or discontinue usage. Only
one demo key will be allowed per BBS system.

▒▒▒ Three Ways To Run ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒
Running Locally:
To run locally just run GOLF-ST.EXE without parameters or with the
paramameter SETUP to create a GOLF-ST.CFG file. Then to run type:
GOLF-ST LOCAL GOLF-ST.CFG
at the dos prompt. By specifying the configuration file this will allow
the game to write the bulletins (to a path of your choice) and to allow
the game to use the Sysop's real name instead of the name Sysop.
Running With Evaluation (Demo) Key:
To run as an evaluation (Demo) door requires that you call one of the
support BBS's listed in the SUPPORT.TXT file included in the GOLF-ST.ZIP
file. Where you can download (FREQ where available) a 30 day evaluation
(Demo) key. These keys are only 1,500 bytes so they can be downloaded or
File REQuested very quickly. These keys will allow you to run this door
for 30 days so you and your users may try it to see if you want it. If
you can't download/freq the key then fill out REGISTER.FRM and check the
keys you want and send it with $2 for shipping and the requested
demo keys will be mailed to you.
NOTE: Only one key for evaluation key allowed for
each system.
DO NOT DISTIBUTE EVALUATION KEYS
Let each system download there own key.
Running as A Registered Door:
To run as a registered door you must register. To register simply
print-out or copy the contents of the REGISTER.FRM file provided in
this package. Fill it out with the requested information and send it
with check, money order or Visa/Mastercard information to the address
on the form itself or at the end of this documentation.
Upon receipt of your order you will be sent your registered key. This
will be done, via net-mail where applicable or it will be sent U.S. Mail.
All COD orders will be sent UPS or U.S. Mail.
▒▒▒ Support ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒
I just want to ensure those that decide to register this door that
shipment of the registered key will be sent promptly. I want to make it clear
that all my door games are supported by me to the best of my ability. If you
have any problems at all with any of my doors, I will try to solve your
problem as best as I can and also as quick as possible.
Support can be obtained by calling JNS Software Support BBS, calling
voice or by mail. Please see the last page of this document for phone
numbers and mailing address.

▒▒▒ How To Play ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒

Golf Solitaire is an easy card game. It's played with the cards
laid out in 7 rows with each row containing 5 cards. There's also a
Card Pile which contains the remaining cards which were not used in
the 7 by 5 lay out board.
The object of the game is to clear all the cards from the 7 by 5
lay-out. This is done by playing each card onto the Play Card Stack
in numberic order. For example, if the card on the Play Card Stack
is a 5, then a 4 or 6 may be played from the board to the stack. An
exception to this rule is that a King is a stopper. No card, Queen
or otherwise may be played onto a King. Once a King is placed on
the Play Card Pile then you must draw a new card from the Draw Pile
if any remain.
* * * S C O R I N G * * *
You score 100 points for each card removed from the 5 By 7 board.
If you remove a complete column of 5 cards then you recieve a $1000
bonus. Also, If you have the High Score for the day then you will
receive 5000 point bonus. This will be added when the game is
played the first time the next day.
* * * F R E E G A M E S * * *
By removing 33 of the 35 cards for the lay-out board you will win
a free game. Also, clearing the lay-out board of all cards you will
win a a free game plus a $5000 bonus.
* * * F E A T U R E S * * *
In the registered version it allows you to make up missed days
and play games ahead with its extra games option which is configur-
able by the Sysop.
Before the play ahead feature can be activated you must be up to
date and have no missed days. Also, be careful when playing ahead,
because you will not be permitted to enter the game on the days you
have already played. So the best technic is to play from the last
day of the month backwards with the play ahead feature.
The Sysop can set how many hands may be played a day from 1 to 3
and can turn on or off the Make-Up Days feature. The Sysop also
controls the day of the month the Play Ahead feature is activated.

The following files are found either in the GOLF-ST.ZIP or will be
created during the runtime execution.
GOLF-ST.EXE <--- Executable Program.
GOLF-ST.CFG * <--- Sample Configuration File.
GOLF-ST.DAT * <--- Store User's Name, Last Play Date & Scores.
GOLF-ST.HPS <--- Ansi Mode Instructions Used By Program.

* DENOTES that file is created during RUN-TIME.
GOLF-ST.CHP contains:
This is the Last Months Champion file. It contains the Champs Name, Score,
Date and How many games won that month. This file is automatically created
when the game is first executed.
Deleting the GOLF-ST.CHP file will cause the game to reinitialize
itself. It will create a new GOLF-ST.CHP file and a new GOLF-ST.DAT file.

▒▒▒ Setup & Installation ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒
Installation procedures are very simple if you have setup a live
program in the past. First create a Sub-Directory for the door game and
copy all the files from the GOLF-ST.ZIP file into this directory.
Now execute GOLF-ST.EXE with the SETUP parameter as shown below:
GOLF-ST SETUP
This will run the games setup feature that will create a GOLF-ST.CFG
file. The setup program has complete on-line help so I will not duplicate
it here.
This is what the GOLF-ST.CFG contains when created (less the comments).

▒▒▒ Execution ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒
Some BBS Systems call batch files and some run doors direct. So if you
don't know how to install a door on your particular BBS System then please
see your BBS manual. The game merely needs the CFG file name passed to it on
the command line to operate. ie. GOLF-ST.EXE GOLF-ST.CFG
▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒ Golf Solitaire (C)opyright 1990-1991 - Page 6 ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒
▒▒▒ Multi-Node Use ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒
Running this game on more than a single node requires a Multi-Node Key.
When using a Evaluation Key you must allow only one (1) Node to access the
door at a time. You may use different configuration file name for each node.
Use the SETUP parameter with Golf Solitaire to create a GOLF-ST.CFG
configuration file and then rename it for each node. For a short cut, you
may create one file and copy it to the different names and edit the file
with any text editor. Just be sure to keep all fields correct.
Example Of File Naming and execution:
Node 1: GOLF-ST GOLF-ST.CF1
Node 2: GOLF-ST GOLF-ST.CF2
Node 3: GOLF_ST GOLF_ST.CF3
▒▒▒ Notes Of Interest ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒
This game does not require any monitoring program for dropped carrier,
it automatically detects this and exits back to the BBS.
This door DOES NOT require any runtime modules to run. It is run
as is without any aid from outside utilities.
Some Terminal programs have a default setting of ON for Compu-Serve B file
transfers. If this is on the Terminal Program will strip the ASCII Code 3,
which is a CLUB character used by the card. Have your users set this to OFF
if CLUBS fail to appear on the cards.
